Statement of Faith

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible,

and the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. We

use the King James version of the Bible exclusively in our ministry.

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each coeternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal

in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and

born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin, the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became

alienated from God. On his own, man is unable to remedy his lost condition.

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Whose precious blood was

shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through his death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary

sacrifice and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe in that "blessed hope," the personal, imminent return of Christ Who will rapture His Church prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the

end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the

nation of Israel.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.

Brief History

Welcome Baptist Church was organized on April 21, 1949. It was birthed out of a tent meeting held by Rev.

Toy Waddell. A building was erected on the same grounds where the old tent stood. Rev. Waddell was the

first pastor of the church.

In 1969, the church acquired property from Monarch Mill across the railroad tracks where an old boarding

house stood. Under the leadership of Pastor Guyton Genes, the men of the church tore the old house down

and erected a new building.

In April of 1972, Pastor Billy Cole held a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a new sanctuary.

Dr. Percy Ray preached the dedication service on Sunday, December 31, 1972.

On February 9, 2004, a fire ravaged our church building. We spent the next two years meeting in our fellow-

ship hall while construction on a new building was underway. On May 28, 2006, we marched from the fel-

lowship hall, held hands, and encircled the entire building as Pastor Robert Jarvis led the church in prayer.

Our prayer was to thank God for all His blessings and ask Him to continue to bless this church and use this

new building for His glory. God truly made the trial a blessing.

We give God all the glory for what He has done and what He continues to do.
